Sometimes after disconnecting my firewire drive (where I save all my torrents) and restarting bittorrent it appears to that the torrents continue anyway but saving to volumes/firewire2 or volumes/firewire3.

I would like to get rid of these invisible volumes.

You don't care if Europe collapses? Not even a teensy bit that our allies are going to fail?

No, that would not be ideal, but right in line with Humans trying to control animal populations, with culling.

Other species rise-up, and become a problem due to intervention.

In the ebb and flow of Mother Nature, these things will work themselves out.

I am truly sorry that this is to the detriment of the Capitalists in Society.

    God bless Mother Nature. ;)

You already have a few members in this thread who said they're not eligible.

A number of ineligible donors is not the same as a lack of eligible donors. That's basic logic.

Apple should really diversify their suppliers anyway, which is what they look like they are doing. Cut Samsung supply by 50%, and threaten all of it if they don't get their act together. Surely Samsung doesn't think that that they can bring in this kind of revenue on their own merit. Outside of LCD televisions, Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.

19 Negatives for this news. WHAT!?!

    They are helping people man!

Yes, we of the negative blood community try to help out, especially as our blood is more rare. I'll be once again ready to give my my A- blood this month, but I must ask, how long has MacRumors been supporting blood drives and where did the relationship come from?

I don't totally see the connection, but I love this promotion. What a good cause!

Apple's attitude about this stuf has always been very positive. I'm totally willing to believe that all this stuff was an oversight since believing that matches what they've said in the past.

Weren't they made aware of this almost a year ago? That's a long time to address an oversight.

    I found a perfect little free Java app. It's called Mix2Stix (http://software.azett.com/index.php?cat=Mix2Stix)
It has a simple, easy to use interface and works on any platform (Windows, Linux, Mac...), with any storage device, and any file type. What more could you want?

In the UK, under its purely municipal law, there is a presumption that retail price management agreements are against the public interest, and therefore unenforceable. The law does, however, provide for the presumption to be overcome by evidence to the contrary, and in the case of publishers and booksellers, vertical retail price management has been held enforceable. The UK is, of course, a member of the European Union which takes a stronger stand against retail price management, and pursuant to the articles of the European Commission, it is their standards that apply to covered cross-border transactions.

In the U.S., there have been swings back and forth through much of the 20th century, but current Federal law (since 2007) applies the "Rule of Reason" to retail price management arrangements, and a retail pricing scheme will be enforced if it is not anti-competitive. The Supreme Court recognized that competition often is enhanced by matters other than price (after-sale support, strong warranty, etc.), and it may well be reasonable to require a minimum price to support an overall more competitive position.

Those who find the public policy aspects of this question interesting may wish to read the now definitive opinion of the U.S. Supreme Court, http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/06pdf/06-480.pdf

VersionTracker.com is indispensable for, personally.. With most software phoning for updates though, it's a bit overkill for VTP, so you're right on that one.

The "member" "freebies" on .Mac are the toaster over give away of the intarweb land. Lame x 3

.Mac used to (still does?) have a pretty nice discount on VersionTracker Pro/MacFixIt Pro. I sprung for it one year; didn't use the extras nearly enough to justify it, and even the paid version of MacFixIt is way too ponderous and difficult to search to have much worth. I do use VersionTracker Plus' features pretty heavily, so I would have paid for it anyway.

But .Mac did offer up a few nice discounts on shareware over the years that I put to good use. (And no, Virex doesn't count!) Nothing that would make you pay full price for the service, but enough to ease the pain noticeably.

There was an article about an 11 year old girl who was gangraped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed up like a 21-year-old prostitute.

So if she was really a 21 year old prostitute, the gang rape is okay then?

How do you make your dock just a black strip like you did?
Running geektool. Most of the desktops you see are running it to display computer information, weather, music, etc.
I'm also using a black dock with the icons.
•See this thread for Geektool (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=628023&highlight=geektool)
•See this link for black dock (http://usingmac.com/2007/11/8/leopard-invisible-dock-and-black-dock)

Hit command-j at the desktop and you'll get something that looks like this. Check 'Show Item Info' and you're good to go. :)

    jeffzoom91: someone's familiar with TonyMac's site. *grin*

Now if I could only figure out how to keep this thing overclocked to 4.4ghz without making the clock run like it's on meth it'll be perfect!

    Hey COOL!

Its nice to see a Portuguese monument in this thread. I loved visiting Palcio da Pena in Sintra.

I'll always remember this as the place that cracked my original iPhone 2G's screen :D
